The Yucatan Peninsula & the Mayans

Jour 1: Cancun

Cancún
Arrival at Cancun International Airport. Transfer to hotel Adhara or similar. Dinner and overnight.

Jour 2: Merida

Chichen Itza - Cenote Yokdzonot - Izamal - Merida
Departure in the morning to the most important archaeological site: Chichén-Itza, the Mayan capital of Yucatan, where you can see the most famous ruins of the world as the Pyramid of Kukulkán. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch continuation to the Yokdzonot cenote, a beautiful, natural and not very turistic cenote. After a refreshing bath we continue to Izamal, a picturesque and beautiful colonial city. Here you can visit the famous St Anthony's Convent, built over mayan ruins.
In the afternoon arrival in Merida, an elegant colonial city, capital of Yucatan. Stay at the hotel.

Jour 3: Merida

Uxmal - Merida
Breakfast in hotel. Departure towards the archaeological zone of Uxmal one of the most important testimonies of the Mayan culture in the "Ruta Puuc". The characteristic of the Puuc architectural style is that of having low and rectangular buildings with gardens in the center surrounded by columns with inscriptions dedicated mostly to Chaac, the god of rain. Lunch included and return to Merida where we will take a short panoramic tour to admire the Paseo de Montejo, the Monumento alla Patria, the main square with the Cathedral and the government buildings. Free time and lodging.

Jour 4:

Valladolid - Cobá - Tulum - Mayan Riviera
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the archaeological zone of Cobá to visit this incredibly site with the highest pyramid of Yucatan, Nohoch Mul. Lunch at a local restaurant and continuation to the last archaeological zone that we will visit during this tour, the famous Tulum, which is facing the Caribbean Sea.
In the evening arrival to the hotel of Cancun or Riviera Maya (not included). Possibility to extend in a Mayan Riviera hotel to enjoy some days by the sea.
